Hi!
I'm having some trouble with lines in my capturing. Im doing all this in PAL (booth camera and program-settings). The problem is that the captured movie looks kind of interlaced. I’m using Adobe Premiere 6.01, a no-name firewire-card and my camera is a Sony MV3i. I'm capturing in full DV-(PAL)format 720x576.
I have no problem with lost of frames or any other capacity problems. The only way to get rid of these lines is to export the uncompressed .avi-file in half size -> 360x288. But then I'm suffering of quality loss.
Can someone please give me some advice?
Best regards,
/Fred. [fred@spray.se]

Well, the question is: do you need deinterlacing or not? What do you want to do with the video? If you plan to make a SVCD or DVD, no problem, interlaced source is ok. Just if you want to make a VCD, you have to deinterlace (by simply reducing resolution). Then there is no problem at all. The only problem is, when you want to make a DIVX or similar file. Then you have to deinterlace, but Premiere provides some simple deinterlacing filter, so all I can say is RTFM! You can find it somewhere in the online-help.

I'm planning to make booth .mpg and .avi [divX].
Maybe a stupid question - but why is the video interlaced? -
Hello,
I have a same problem too! (to capture full size resolution)
Did you solve a problem? How?
Help me, I do not know what else can I try. -
All DV video captures will be interlaced, as far as I know. Don't worry about it. If you're exporting back to the camera, all will be fine. As others have said above, just use the deinterlace filter in Premiere or TMPEGenc or whatever you're encoding to VCD with and you'll be fine.
Tachyon.
